Seniorlink's Working Caregiver Benefit
Employers can now help family caregiving employees care for frail, elder and/or disabled relatives with Seniorlink's low-cost and effective benefit.
The Employee Caregiving Problem
One in four full-time employees is caring for an elderly or disabled relative The costs of family caregiving to US employers are substantial - including absenteeism, tardiness, and lowered productivity. There are also health implications: family caregivers report increased strain, anxiety, fatigue and have higher medical bills.
The recent MetLife Caregiving Cost Study estimated the productivity losses to US employers for all full-time, employed caregivers to exceed 33 billion dollars!
Many US employers are becomming increasingly aware of the caregiver problem, though steps to address this seem to be varied and unsystematic. Some employers treat this problem like a different flavor of child care benefit while others have thrown the sink at the problem by granting extended (unpaid) leaves of absence.
The Solution: Seniorlink's Employer Caregiving Benefit
Our Employer Caregiving Benefit is now available to many millions of Americans via one of our growing number of business/employer/insurer partnerships. For relatively little cost, we can provide your employees with:
- Unlimited use of the Seniorlink Online web portal (www.seniorlinkonline.com).
- Unlimited access, via e mail or telephone, to Seniorlink's professional elder Care Advisors. Don't confuse this with the "information and referral" service offered by many so-called eldercare experts. We provide customized eldercare planning expertise - delivered by an eldercare expert.
- Access to Seniorlink's nationwide network of geriatric care managers - numbering over 1,200 in 50 states. Depending on the level of benefit desired, first dollar coverage may well take care of the lion's share of care manager input and service - resulting in minimal (or no) out-of-pocket employee expense.
- Discounts on other products and services meaningful to family caregivers (e.g., a free, three month trial of a terrific Personal Emergency Response System)
Our rational, practical approach gets your employees just what they need without breaking the bank. Everyone wins. Employees get the eldercare assistance, guidance and services they need when they need it. Employers earn employee trust while saving money, have happier and more productive workers, and get an experienced partner in Seniorlink - the market leader in eldercare advisory and management services.
How is the Seniorlink Caregiver Benefit Provided?
A Caregiver Benefit leads to employees that are happier and more productive! The employer pays Seniorlink a "PEPM" fee - depending on the number of employees this may be pennies per month. The fee covers the entire cost of the services listed above up to a pre-determined "first dollar" benefit level. Typically, we provide quotes at three levels of first-dollar benefit - $500, $1,000 and $1,500. When an employee requests services, Seniorlink tracks service utilization and maps this against the dollar benefit available. Services beyond the first dollar limit are paid by the employee.
We can walk you through all of the particulars of how we cost out the benefit, and provide you with several simple case examples that will make perfect sense to you. Why? Because we have done this before and have the experience to match our services with your need.
Do you already work with an Employee Assistance Program or Work Life Provider?
No problem. Our benefit is quite complimentary with Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) services. In fact, we work with a number of such services to provide an eldercare benefit to caregiving workers. Nothing needs to change - the employee simply calls the EAP directly, an advisor screens the call as having an eldercare focus, and a transfer to Seniorlink is made quickly and easily. From there, the eldercare experts at Seniorlink can help the employee in a focused and expert manner. Everyone wins. We welcome calls from employers that have EAP/Work Life arrangements, or from the EAP providers themselves.
We look forward to hearing from you. We will work hard to earn your trust and business.
